Lead Cook – Golf Club Restaurant & Events

The Legends Country Club | Eurkea, MO

Job Summary

The Legends Golf Club is seeking a skilled and dependable Lead Cook to support kitchen operations and help deliver exceptional food quality for members, guests, and events. This leadership role assists the Chef and Food & Beverage Manager in overseeing daily food production, maintaining kitchen standards, and supporting kitchen staff.

The Lead Cook helps ensure that all menu items are prepared with consistency, efficiency, and attention to presentation while maintaining cost control and food safety standards. This role also serves as the kitchen leader when the Chef or management team is not present, helping guide staff and maintain smooth operations.

Located in St. Louis, MO. The Legends Country Club offers a full-service clubhouse dining experience, banquet events, and high-quality food service for members and guests.

 

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare menu items including soups, sauces, and daily specials when the Chef is unavailable

• Supervise kitchen staff and food preparation during shifts

• Assist with training and guiding kitchen team members to maintain quality standards

• Ensure food presentation, flavor, and portion standards are consistently met

• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization throughout the kitchen

Kitchen Operations

• Assume responsibility for kitchen operations when the Chef, Sous Chef, or Food & Beverage Manager is absent

• Support proper kitchen staffing to maintain efficiency and service standards

• Monitor food preparation processes to ensure quality and consistency

• Work across multiple kitchen stations as needed (prep, grill, sauté, etc.)

• Set up, maintain, and break down workstations during shifts

Inventory & Cost Control

• Assist with monthly inventory counts and stock management

• Support food cost controls through proper portioning and waste management

• Assist with requisitioning and issuing food supplies

• Ensure proper stock rotation and storage procedures are followed

Kitchen Maintenance & Safety

• Ensure kitchen equipment and facilities are properly maintained

• Recommend repairs or maintenance when needed

• Enforce sanitation standards and food safety practices

• Maintain a safe working environment for all kitchen staff

Professional Standards

• Maintain a clean, professional appearance at all times

• Follow all state and local health and safety regulations

• Support a positive, professional kitchen culture

 


 

What We’re Looking For

• Previous kitchen leadership or senior line cook experience preferred

• Strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations

• Ability to supervise and guide kitchen staff when needed

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

• Team-oriented mindset and professional work ethic

 


 

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional golf club kitchen and clubhouse restaurant environment. The kitchen supports daily dining service as well as golf events, tournaments, and private club functions.

Team members work in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining high standards for food quality and service.

 

Physical Requirements

• Stand for extended periods during shifts

• Lift and move up to 50 pounds

• Work in hot kitchen environments

• Perform repetitive food preparation tasks

• Bend, reach, and maneuver safely in busy kitchen spaces
