    The Colosseum Restaurant – Salem, NH

    The Colosseum Restaurant has been an iconic part of Salem’s dining scene for over 40 years! As a family-owned Italian restaurant known for authentic cuisine, cooked to order dishes, quality ingredients, and memorable dining experiences, we are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen and continue our tradition of excellence.

    This role is ideal for a chef who thrives in a structured kitchen environment, values professionalism between front and back of house, and has experience executing both fine dining service and large catering events. We ask this candidate is experienced in Italian cuisine, fine dining preferred, but room to be creative with specials and other dining efforts.

    Because Colosseum is a family-run restaurant with a long-standing reputation, we are looking for someone who values teamwork, consistency, and long-term growth.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead daily kitchen operations and manage kitchen staff
    • Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and standards
    • Execute authentic Italian cuisine (Southern Italian experience preferred)
    • Oversee production and execution of large catering orders and private events
    • Maintain professional communication and structure between front and back of house
    • Train and mentor kitchen team members
    • Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships
    • Monitor food costs and maintain organized kitchen systems
    • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards

    Qualifications

    • Previous experience working in a professional kitchen leadership role
    • Experience in fine dining or upscale restaurant kitchens preferred
    • Experience managing large catering orders and high-volume service
    • Strong organizational and leadership skills
    • Passion for Italian cuisine and traditional cooking techniques
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment

    Compensation

    • Starting pay: Min $25 per hour with room to grow based on performance, starting is based on experience
    • Overtime opportunities available

    Schedule

    • Full time. Opening required. Evening and weekends required. Mondays OFF
