    Job Description

    June's is seeking a coffee professional as a barista shift lead. This individual will facilitate daily service and lead our talented team of baristas. This person has experience with a La Marzocco commercial espresso machine or similar.

    THE WHAT// Responsibilities include:

      • Customer care -  greeting + engaging with customers, placing food + drink orders, assisting with customer service requests and answering questions. 

      • Barista duties - preparing drinks from our espresso bar plus coffee, juices and alcoholic beverages.

      • Cashier duties - placing orders via Square, managing an accurate cash box, issuing gift cards, overseeing merchandise area. 

      • Managing FOH staff including delegating tasks, running time (breaks + early dismissals), empowering shift leads, giving feedback, facilitating training with shift leads + hiring.

      • Handling customer requests/complaints (escalating to owners as necessary)

      • Cash management + Overseeing inventory of FOH goods (paper, coffee, tea, ready to drink options, alcohol)

      • Creating, delegating + executing service checklists 

      • Assisting with facilitation of onsite events: partnering with Chef/Manager + Owners to ensure onsite events are successful + well-managed

    • Experience/Knowledge:

      • 4+ years of experience in food and beverage management, preferably in high-volume cafe or coffee shop environments.

      • Must be an experienced barista. 

      • Compliant with all required health department and safety certifications, including currently valid Food Handler or Manager (CFM) certification + Alcohol Handler certification (IL BASSET).

      • Experience using Square POS is a bonus!

      • This position requires proficiency in daily restaurant operations including: staff training and performance standards, consistent menu execution, efficient use of products and resources, maintaining clean and safe work and public spaces, and other responsibilities as assigned.

    We are scaling up our bakery program, starting with bread - sourdough + brioche - and need a skilled baker to help us take things to the next level. As a core member of the kitchen team, you’ll work in our light-filled space with local, seasonal produce. Simple food, made well is our philosophy… We partner with local farmers to highlight the best of the midwest and curate a diverse menu for all (vegan, GF, and butter-loving carnivores alike). We believe in cross-training our team so you’ll have variety in your day and skills to take with you into the future.

    As the Bakery Lead, you are responsible for the pastry case and bread used on our regular menu and for special events (supper clubs, evening concert series, etc). You’ll partner closely with the Executive Chef to:

    • Bread Bakery: Perform the duties of menu and recipe development, managing the schedule for completing bread output requirements. In addition to sourdough bread, this role also includes baking service-ready pastry case items to be available daily, such as cinnamon rolls, granola, scones, cookies, muffins and more.

    • Bakery Operations: Work with the executive chef on ordering, inventory and equipment needs for the bakery, ensuring bakery operations adhere to food safety guidelines and maintain kitchen cleanliness. Requires a certified food handler or manager certificate.

    • Other responsibilities as required: We are a small and nimble team that works together across the property. There will be opportunities for hiring, gardening, business operations, and other leadership responsibilities.

    Primary responsibilities include: 

    • Weekly bake prep (pastry case)

    • Weekly bread bake 

    • Stocking bakery (in communication with manager/chef)

    • Adhere to food safety guidelines + maintain kitchen cleanliness

    • Stocking + shipment receiving (lifting ~50lbs)

    Responsibilities include:

    • Expedite meals to service with attention; working with kitchen (back-of-house) and the cashier/baristas (front-of-house), ensuring dishes are correctly prepared, garnished, and sent to the table in a timely manner

    • Oversee kitchen operations, staff & communicate operational needs to ensure highest quality of service is provided.

    • Adhere to food safety guidelines + maintain kitchen cleanliness

    • Other responsibilities as required: We are a small and nimble team that works together across the property. There will be opportunities for baking, kitchen prep, inventory management, and other responsibilities.

    Qualifications include:

    • 4+ years experience in a commercial kitchen; experience as a chef de cuisine or sous chef is a great plus

    • Great attention to detail checking food temperature, presentation, and accuracy before it leaves the kitchen.

    • Organization & prioritization skills for organizing tickets to ensure all items for a table arrive together.

    • Great communicator; the lead liaison between cooks, food runners and FOH staff relaying special requests or modifications.

    • Must have weekend availability (Saturday + Sunday)
