Description
Our Catering Servers are our off-site brand ambassadors, bringing the JINYA experience to weddings, corporate events, and private parties. They ensure guests experience a fun, relaxed, and exceptional dining experience in a variety of event environments. Catering Servers are expected to be approachable, adaptable, and professional, ensuring JINYA’s high standards of service are executed seamlessly outside the traditional restaurant walls.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Execution: Serve guests in a professional manner, including passed appetizers, buffet management, or formal plated service.

Logistics & Setup: Assist in the loading/unloading of catering vehicles and the setup of event spaces, including tables, linens, heating elements (chafing dishes), and décor.

Brand Ambassadorship: Embrace JINYA culture by providing the collective proper company greetings, such as “Irasshai” and “Arigato,” even in off-site settings.

Menu Expertise: Maintain full knowledge of the catering menu, including ingredients and common allergens, to safely guide guests through our unique ramen and tapas offerings.

Beverage Service: Execute beverage service, which may include water/tea service or assisting with basic bar needs as required by the event contract.

Safety & Sanitation: Ensure the cleanliness of the catering station and guest-facing areas. Maintain strict food safety standards while transporting and holding food at appropriate temperatures.

Team Support: Work in unison with the event lead and kitchen team to ensure timely food replenishment and efficient "strike" (cleanup) of the event space.

Problem Solving: Respond to guest needs with a "can-do" attitude and alert the Event Lead of any logistical or service concerns immediately.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of server or catering experience, preferably in high-volume events or banquet service.

Adaptability: Ability to remain professional and positive in fast-paced, changing environments (e.g., outdoor venues, corporate offices).

Communication: Outstanding verbal skills with the ability to lead by example and motivate team spirit in a high-pressure setting.

Reliability: Must be highly dependable with a flexible schedule, as catering hours often include late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Detail Oriented: Ability to follow complex "Run of Show" instructions and setup diagrams to ensure event accuracy.
Required Education:

Be able to write and speak English

Must have appropriate city, state and federal certifications according to location of restaurant, including alcohol and food handling certificates

Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record (preferred for transport roles).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member is required to frequently stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Team member must be able to distinguish between sweet, savory and other food flavors. Team member will work indoor and outdoor environment, which might be hot, humid and wet. Be able to reach, bend, and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
