    LINE COOK 

    YOU'RE A GREAT MATCH FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU:

    If you thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, can simultaneously have a commitment for excellence, hospitality, multi-task, and remain positive and upbeat, we want to hear from you! We are looking for a talented Line Cook with a passion for food, hospitality and a commitment to help the restaurant run smoothly, for both the Back of House team and our guests.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    The Line Cook is responsible for the preparation of food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment. The goal is the restaurant 100% ready for operation and our guests.

    • Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
    • Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
    • Date all food containers and rotate, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
    • Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line set up. Note any out of stock items or possible shortages.
    • Return all food items not used on the next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
    • Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, and loss.
    • Operate, maintain and properly clean all kitchen line cook equipment.
    • Understand and comply with proper food preparation, cooking, handling and storage.
    • Understand and comply with kitchen sanitation, safety and equipment usage.
    • Assist in putting away incoming orders and deliveries.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

     

     KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Ability to be organized and capable of multi-tasking with attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a face paced environment.
    • Ability to stand and be on feet for extended periods of time in varied climate conditions.
    • Ability to carry and lift up to 50 to 80 lbs frequently.
    • Ability to go up and down stairs.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Scheduled days and times may vary based on business needs.
    • Ability to travel locally for outside catering functions as needed.

    BARTENDER

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    As a bartender at Salt + Smoke, you are the welcoming face of our bar where guests can enjoy a full- service dining experience, or just a drink. We are proud to offer over 100 different whiskies, all local beers on tap, and a cocktail menu with house made. A bartender at Salt + Smoke is a source of knowledge for staff and guests on the bar products we offer and is expected to be able to interact and discuss all things BBQ, bourbon, and beer with our guests. Being truly hospitable and putting others' needs first is the only way to succeed in any service industry. Our bartenders are also responsible for building drinks for the entire dining room in a timely manner according to a set recipe.

    • Greet all guests in a timely fashion with an informative introduction. 
    • Prepare all drinks for the dining room in a timely manner, adhering to a standard recipe. 
    • Cut fruit and prepare syrups for the bar according to pars before busy hours to get ready for the shift. 
    • Learn selling points and key facts about our bar products to offer recommendations and upsell to guests. 
    • Learn all aspects of the food and beverage menus, including knowledge of gluten free and allergy details and any specials we are running. 
    • Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, including pre-bussing and bussing the bar as guests dine and leave. 
    • Answer any questions the guest might have and guide them through the process to ensure that they have the best experience possible 
    • Communicate with the kitchen any dietary or allergy restrictions or special requests guests may have. 
    • Process guest checks and collect payments.
    • Operate with the highest level of genuine hospitality and care for our guests. 
    • Other job responsibilities as they arise. 

     KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

    • Ability to understand and comply with proper food and beverage handling techniques according to state and local serving guidelines. 
    • Ability to interact with guests in an upbeat, positive manner. 
    • Ability to timely identify and resolve basic issues as they arise.
    • Ability to stand and be on feet for extended periods of time in varied climate conditions. 
    • Ability to carry and lift up to 50 lbs at times.

    FOOD RUNNER

We are looking for a part-time talented Food Runner with a passion for service and a commitment to helping the restaurant run smoothly, for both the Front of House team and our guests.

    You will report to the Front of the House Manager, General Manager, and Kitchen Manager.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Food Runners play an important role at Salt + Smoke as they are the facilitators of and often last eyes on plates leaving the kitchen and being delivered to guests. Food Runners are responsible for organizing plates in the window as they come up, finishing the plates with the necessary garnishments, spoons, bread, etc., making sure they are plated and presented according to our standards, and delivering completed meals to our guests using our seat numbering system, ensuring that all ticket modifications and guest requests have been met. Food Runners also assist with to go orders, oftentimes multitasking between compiling to go bags with 100% accuracy and ensuring that food is leaving the window in the appropriate amount of time. Food Runners may also assist guests with any questions or requests they may have upon delivering food. The goal is to facilitate a fast flow of the restaurant while maintaining high levels of organization, hospitality, and cleanliness standards.

    • Organize plates according to tickets as they appear in the window. 
    • Check plates for accuracy according to ticket modifications and allergy and dietary restrictions. 
    • Finish plates with any garnishments necessary. 
    • Ensure that meals are plated properly and presented according to standards before leaving the kitchen. 
    • Operate as the primary communication point between servers and kitchen staff should any issues or modifications arise. 
    • Deliver plates to guests using our seat numbering system with excellent customer service. 
    • Answer any questions guests may have about their meals or requests for additional items they may need. 
    • Maintain high levels of cleanliness in the kitchen according to sanitation procedures. 
    • Pre-bus any empty dishes or glassware from tables as you see them. 
    • Pre-Bus, clean and set tables efficiently.
    • Package to go orders accurately and deliver to the host stand. 
    • Ensure that ticket time standards are being met at all times and problem solve if they are not. 
    • Stock to go stations, plate racks, and assist with any food preparation needed by the kitchen manager. 
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

We are looking for a talented Server with a passion for service and a commitment to helping the restaurant run smoothly, for both the Front of House team and our guests. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    As a server at Salt + Smoke, you are the primary point of contact for the guest. As such, you are responsible for directing the course of the guest experience. This includes menu knowledge (both food and drink), proper table service sequence, appearance (adherence to the dress code), and most importantly a sense of responsibility for the success of the restaurant through teamwork and positive attitudes. We emphasize excellence in all aspects of our jobs from maintaining cleanliness of the store to upselling desserts and our bourbon list, to time management in completing side duties and helping your fellow servers. All these things add up indirectly to sway each customer experience in one direction or another. Being truly hospitable and putting others' needs first is the only way to succeed in any service industry.

    • Greet all tables in a timely fashion with an informative introduction.

    • Ensure all tables in your section are set properly before shift. 
    • Pre-Buss and buss all tables, look for empty plates, glassware etc. Full hands in, full hands out.

    • Ensure that the guest receives their food in a timely fashion, double check that they have what they need, and explain our sauces
    • Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the restaurant and aid in side work with fellow servers.

    KITCHEN MANAGER

We are looking for a talented Kitchen Manager with a passion for food, hospitality, and a commitment to help the restaurant run smoothly, for both the Back of House team and our guests.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    The Kitchen Manager is responsible for managing staff and day-to-day kitchen operations including planning and managing the production and presentation of quality food in a cost effective, safe manner. You are also responsible for quality service, meeting/exceeding financial and service goals, and managing within approved plans and objectives. This position directly manages assigned staff and indirectly manages all employees of the kitchen, demonstrating commitment to these goals through work ethic, integrity, and respect for the company and employees. Unites associates in a common commitment to achieve and exceed these goals. Impresses guests with quality and timely service in food presentation and preparation. 

    • Delegate and manage tasks to kitchen staff. 
    • Train kitchen associates to maximize productivity and minimize waste. 
    • Inspect daily use records with the Executive Chef to make sure that estimates are filled in correctly and employees are following these estimates as closely as possible. 
    • Pull all food needed for daily production from the walk-in and utilize all leftovers. 
    • Communicate with and provide clear direction to staff. 
    • Operate as the main expeditor when necessary, ensuring that all food leaving the kitchen is accurate according to ticket modifications and dietary restrictions, and plated in a highly presentable manner. 
    • Remain aware of ticket times and resolve any issues causing longer times than our standard. 
    • Maintain and supervise good cleaning and sanitation practices in all areas of the kitchen. 
    • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis. 
    • Remain positive, resourceful and possess the ability to improvise while working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure. 
    • Create daily specials as needed. 
    • Assist in putting away incoming orders and deliveries.
    • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

    • Ability to be organized and capable of multi-tasking with attention to detail.
    • Ability to work in a face paced environment.
    • Ability to stand and be on feet for extended periods of time in varied climate conditions.
    • Ability to carry and lift up to 50 to 80 lbs frequently.
    • Ability to go up and down stairs.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Scheduled days and times may vary based on business needs.
    • Possess knowledge of food preparation and kitchen services, business and basic accounting principles and practices. 
    • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage daily operations and resolve operational problems. 
    • Possess strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills with professionalism, diplomacy, and confidentiality. 
    • Display consistent professional leadership while simultaneously handling competing and changing priorities and projects.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • High school education plus schooling in culinary arts or related major
    • Three or more years of related experience is preferred.
