Early Bird Education Group, part of the Bright Ideas Family Early Learning network, is a rapidly growing system of 42 preschool and childcare centers across the Midwest and Southeast. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Center Director to lead one of our long-standing childcare centers in Auburn, Alabama.
Our centers serve children ages 6 weeks through 12 years old, offering a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong passion for early childhood education, proven leadership skills, and an ownership mindset to ensure operational excellence and family satisfaction.
*Candidates must meet state requirements to serve as the administrator on a childcare license.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Development
-
Recruit, hire, train, and develop teachers and support staff.

Build staff schedules that maintain state ratio compliance.
-
Conduct annual evaluations and lead quarterly staff meetings.
-
Coach team members, hold staff accountable, and ensure adherence to policies and best practices.
Payroll & HR Management
-
Oversee timekeeping, approve payroll, and resolve discrepancies.
-
Manage PTO requests while ensuring appropriate classroom coverage.

Maintain accurate employee files and training records.
Billing & Financial Management
-
Manage billing plans through Brightwheel.
-
Monitor accounts, address late payments, and oversee collections.

Respond promptly to family billing questions.
Curriculum & Program Quality
-
Ensure lesson plans meet state standards and support developmental progress.

Monitor curriculum implementation and child assessments.
-
Maintain appropriate classroom supplies and resources.
Center Operations & Safety
-
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized facility (classrooms, common areas, and playgrounds).

Conduct inspections, manage maintenance needs, and oversee vendor requests.

Ensure daily cleaning and safety procedures are followed.
Enrollment & Family Relations

Manage inquiries and follow-ups across website, phone, email, and social media.

Conduct family tours, complete onboarding, and maintain enrollment records.

Support new families with Brightwheel setup and documentation.

Build positive, professional relationships with families to drive retention.
Compliance & Licensing

Prepare for and oversee all state licensing visits, inspections, and investigations.

Draft and execute corrective action plans when needed.

Conduct fire and emergency drills; maintain accurate compliance records.
Qualifications

Must meet Alabama state requirements to serve as the licensed administrator of a childcare center.

Proven leadership and management experience in early childhood education or related field.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring compliance and high-quality programming.
