Description
As Market Clerk & Butcher Assistant, you’ll be responsible for preparing various cuts of meat, poultry, and fish for sale or service. You’ll ensure products are handled, stored, and displayed properly while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare meat for display and service, including grinding, marinating, and packaging
• Ensure proper storage, rotation, and labeling of all products
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering needs
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, tools, and equipment
• Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling procedures
• Interact with customers, answering questions and offering recommendations (if in a retail setting)
• Work closely with kitchen, management or retail staff to ensure timely preparation and sale of market products
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience in retail and food service preferred. Wine, Beer and Spirit knowledge is a bonus.
• Knowledge of meat cuts, preparation methods, and storage
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to lift heavy items and work on your feet for extended periods
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification required within 30 days of hire)
• Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
